Assembly Public Relations was built because the organizations doing the most meaningful work in our communities are often the ones struggling most to be seen.
The name Assembly reflects how we work: bringing people together.
The right stories, the right journalists, the right moments — assembled to build visibility that lasts.
We bring strategic, relationship-driven PR to arts institutions, cultural venues, and mission-driven nonprofits that shape public life in San Francisco and beyond. No spin or stunts, just a deep understanding of what makes your work matter and a commitment to making sure the right people hear about it.
We're small by design.
That means you work directly with senior strategists who know your story, your sector, and the media landscape inside and out. We're in the rooms that matter, and we bring you with us.
Julie Richter, Founder & Principal
I've always been drawn to helping people understand the why behind meaningful work: why it matters, who it's for, and what it makes possible.
That instinct led me to a career in PR. For over a decade, I worked at one of San Francisco's leading agencies, running campaigns for major events, entertainment brands, and nonprofits across the city. The work that resonated most was always mission-driven: clients using art, culture, and community to make San Francisco a better, more connected place.
In 2020, I founded what is now Assembly Public Relations to focus on exactly that. My clients have been featured in outlets from the San Francisco Chronicle, KQED, and KTVU to the Today Show, Wired, Fast Company, and Artforum — but the work I'm proudest of is helping organizations shape the narrative around what they do and making sure the right people are paying attention.

Renin Surucu, Assistant Account Manager
Renin brings a psychology background to PR, which shows up in how she approaches media outreach and client work—with genuine curiosity about what makes a story land. She keeps campaigns moving: organizing the details, supporting pitches, and making sure nothing falls through the cracks.
Outside work: gym, books, and an ongoing quest for the Bay Area's best matcha.
Strategic Partners
Assembly collaborates with a trusted network of communications professionals to scale support when projects call for it — including Kevin Kopjak of Prismatic Communications, a longtime partner whose expertise in strategic communications extends our capacity without compromising the quality or consistency our clients expect.
It's how we stay boutique without ever being under-resourced.
Emerging Talent
We partner with the University of San Francisco to mentor the next generation of communications professionals. Our current interns contribute to real client work — from media research and content coordination to campaign logistics and press tracking — gaining hands-on experience across every stage of public relations. It's one of the ways we invest in the future of this industry.
